The Security Forces and riot police have detained hundreds of Mashhad's protestors within the past few days.

Human Rights Activists News Agency: Following the unrest in the aftermath of the disputed tenth presidential election results, government supported groups such as paramilitary forces, Security Forces, Special Forces and Militias have used every means at their disposal such as batons, teargas, and other cold weapons to crush the uprising.

The said forces have engaged in violent acts against Mashhad citizens without regard to presence of children and women in the crowds.  These clashes have led to significant damages and injuries.  However, no information is available on the condition of the injured citizens resulting from these violent clashes.  Estimates have surfaces that, within one evening alone, over 300 citizens were summarily arrested.

Within the past few nights, many citizens have been arrested solely because they were wearing green or black outfits without any provocation.  The arrests appear so arbitrary that often uninvolved pedestrians or bystanders on the streets have been taken into custody.

Majority of the detainees have been taken to a facility on the east side of Mashhad entitled "Agency for Action Against Social Corruption" for interrogations.  Many of the detainees have been subjected to interrogations and development of a criminal record and released within a few hours of their arrest.  Many others whose names or numbers are unclear continue to be in detention
