HRANA is one of the few news agencies that not only has been able to survive and continue its productive activities in recent years, but has also improved day by day, as I am going to mention in detail. For me, these two factors are important and have a fundamental role when looking at a news agency.
Many websites have been created with similar motives as HRANA, but they have had a short life while others were not able to be as consistent and far-reaching as HRANA in their work.
The main problem for the media focused on Iran is the free access to information and news. These problems are doubled for the news agencies that work from outside of Iran and are several times more difficult for the news agencies such as HRANA that work on special topics such as human rights.
The existing barriers to covering the news on human rights violations have negative consequences for the news agencies and can lead to mistakes in reporting.
In many instances, HRANA has been the first news agency to report on an issue or publish the news; nevertheless, like any news organization, it has made mistakes. In my opinion, the more HRANA is able to focus and report on more reliable and more accurate news, and also, the more it’s able to refrain from publishing information when it’s not sure of its authenticity, the more successful it will be in winning the trust of its audience, and, thus, its impact will increase.
I am aware of the difficulties of HRANA’s work, but I am sure that you are well aware of this reality as well.
Nonetheless, HRANA has shown that it understands doing something difficult but necessary, despite limited resources, might seem impossible but that the commitment is as important and necessary as the goal itself.
And at the end I like to mention HRANA’s files stored by subjects and its rich archives are considered among the strengths and highlights of its operations. I wish it continued success on the difficult yet important path that it has chosen.
