Iran arrests 24-year-old Spaniard who participated in demonstrations for the death of Masha Amini

Ana Baneira and Santiago Sanchez were detained by Iranian forces. A 24-year-old Spaniard was arrested during protests unleashed in Iran after the death of a young Iranian-Kurdish Masha Amin who died after being arrested for improperly wearing a veil, according to the Human Rights Defenders News Agency (HRANA).

“Location Baneiraand the date of your arrest. An informed source close to the family told HRANA that she was detained in recent days.”

Spanish diplomatic sources seen by Europa Press indicated that they could not confirm the arrest of a Spanish citizen but “the embassy is closely following all the information” and is trying to contact the victims and their families.

For his part, Santiago Sanchez, 41, was arrested after visiting the grave of Mahsa Amini in Sages. The Spaniard was detained as he walked to Qatar to watch the World Cup. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the Sanchez family. that the Iranian authorities confirmed his arrest, the reasons for which are not yet clear, and informed them that “he is in good health”.
