Iranian authorities flogged two women who were detained during the January protests before transferring them to prison to serve their sentences, according to the Human Rights Activists News Agency.

Neda Dadehjani and Setayesh Sarabi were flogged 31 times each before being taken to the women’s ward at Sanandaj Central Prison.

A criminal court in Qorveh had sentenced each woman to one year in prison, 31 lashes and two years of internal exile in Nikshahr, in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, after convicting them of “disrupting public peace and order.”
