Devdiscourse – Iran has taken a significant step by granting bail to three influential reformist figures who were detained during the government’s widespread crackdown on dissent. A lawyer for the activists provided this information to the semi-official ISNA news agency.
The released individuals include Azar Mansouri, leader of the moderate Reform Front coalition, Javad Emam, and Ebrahim Asgharzadeh. However, the specific charges they face remain undisclosed. This development comes in the wake of efforts to suppress the most severe unrest the country has seen since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, marked by mass arrests and intimidation tactics.
The U.S.-based human rights organization HRANA reported approximately 53,000 arrests and 7,008 deaths, including 6,509 protesters. However, these figures are yet to be independently verified by Reuters, and Iranian officials were unavailable for comment.
