The Mirror – Trump lets slip two telling admissions about Iran as he hits back over gas prices

President Donald Trump let two telling admissions slip about his war against Iran over the past week as he lashed out over rising gas prices.

Both came in the same Truth Social post, which Trump posted as part of an evening tirade on Labor Day, during which he lashed out at critics over the cost of fuel.

“Oil prices will drop precipitously, like everything else is dropping (but more!), when we WIN the war with Iran. Three Dollars a gallon, but ultimately, below Two Dollars a gallon. It will all happen quickly, and Iran will never have a Nuclear Weapon. MAGA! President DJT,” the president wrote.

The first admission from Trump is that the conflict is, in fact, a war — he’s been careful not to refer to it as such before, but he seemed to slip on Monday evening. He said oil prices will drop “when we WIN the war.”

That comment came shortly after he referred to the conflict as “small potatoes” and made light of the deaths of 18 American service members.

On Friday, Trump was questioned about the status of the conflict. A reporter said in a press spray in the Oval Office, “The vice president said yesterday that he would not describe the conflict with Iran as a war, but the U.S. resumed strikes for the first time in recent weeks. Can you explain to the American people if this is not a war, what exactly is it?”

The president responded, “Well, I’ll tell you what — a lot of people don’t call it a war. I call it a military conflict because it’s small potatoes for us — it’s not a big thing.”

But because the Iran conflict isn’t technically a war, the families of service members killed in it aren’t eligible for benefits from the slain service members.

Libby Klinner buried her husband and was quickly met with a second blow when a military officer sent to help her through the paperwork for the loss told her that the fighting that had killed him wasn’t technically a war — so, some of Air Force Capt. Alex Klinner’s benefits don’t apply.

“My husband lost his life because we’re in a war, and then I was told that because it’s not technically a war, we lose out on something,” she told the Associated Press. “It all comes down to principle.”

Friday marked the sixth month of the war launched by the U.S. and Israel against Iran. Pentagon data indicates that there have been 18 killed and 758 wounded. The Human Rights Activists News Agency puts the death toll in Iran at 3,636.

The second admission came in the same part of Trump’s Truth Social post — the president admitted that Iran has not been defeated yet. Again, he said oil prices will drop “when we WIN the war.”

The phrasing indicates that the war hasn’t actually been won despite Trump’s repeated claims that the U.S. had eviscerated the Islamic Republic.

He recently launched additional strikes on Iran, lashing out at oil tankers in a bid to cripple Iran’s economy.
